WhatsApp outage alerts for ISP staff

Every confirmed outage is one WhatsApp message to the numbers on your staff accounts. Nothing else pages, and nothing pages twice for one outage.

One channel, your own numbers

WhatsApp, through Meta's Cloud API, is the only way HansaNet pages people. There is no SMS, no email and no app notification to keep in step with it. Each owner and worker account carries one mobile number, entered by that person on their own account. When an outage is confirmed, the page goes to the active owner and worker numbers in your org, once each.

What a page says

A down page names the device, its region, its IP and the time. A restored page names the device, its region, how long it was down and the time. Times are printed in your zone, Asia/Kolkata by default.

Who is paged

A worker is paged for, and sees, the devices assigned to them and everything below those devices. Assign an OLT to a worker and they are paged for that OLT, its PONs and the switches behind it. Assign nothing and no worker is paged. Owners are always paged. A worker with no WhatsApp number on their account is reported as unreachable, never quietly skipped. An outage with no device, such as the probe itself, reaches owners only.

Handing an outage to someone

An owner can hand an open outage to named workers. Only those workers are paged for it, and the page carries an "I'm on it" button. The outage stays marked awaiting response until one of them accepts. Accepting is what moves it to in progress, and the dashboard says who took it.

What never pages

Besides device outages and the probe going down or coming back, only a short list may page: a monitored port going down or coming back, a port's traffic crossing a limit you set, and a camera going down or coming back. Optical readings, PON calls, ONU state, latency and backup-link changes are shown live on the dashboard and never paged.

The same alarm on the same device is not sent again straight away.

Pages to your own staff are never charged. Only notices you broadcast to subscribers are billed per message. See pricing.

What it does not do

How an outage is confirmed before it pages is on outage detection. Telling the subscribers behind a down OLT is a separate feature, billed per message: customer notices. Which worker holds which device is set on the dashboard's device and crew pages.
