Syrotech and C-Data GPON OLT monitoring

Syrotech's GPON OLTs are C-Data builds, and the C-Data GPON models share the family, the 54824 class among them. This page exists because we have run these boxes on live networks.

What you get on this OLT

• The ONU roster and who is online. Yes, every PON, every ONU.
• Optical power for every ONU, with 30 days of history. Yes, out of the box.
• The GPON serial and the ONU model. Yes.
• A fibre cut or power cut call when a PON goes dark. Yes, with a short one-time setup, which we do with you. See optical monitoring.
• Port up or down, port rates and OLT health. Yes.
• The subscriber's router matched to the ONU it hangs off. Yes, and that is what feeds the billing-book join.
• A duplicate alarm. Yes, when two live ONUs answer as the same box. Old boxes you have replaced page nobody.
• The OLT's own web pages from the dashboard. Yes, with no port forwarding.
• A reading you can trust. A dead sensor shows as unmeasured, never as a healthy or a critical number.

What you do not get

• No stretch of fibre to search on this family. On a cut you work from the drops you have recorded on the fibre map, which is a better answer anyway.
• One ONU going dark alone pages nobody. The call is for a group.
• ONU provisioning and remote ONU reboot. HansaNet monitors; the OLT's own UI configures.

Getting started

Enable SNMP read only for the probe. Some families need one extra credential, which we set up with you. Nothing is installed on the OLT, and we pick the right settings for you when the box is added.
